Beginning in mid-2017, I started playing around with the idea of using resin with my artwork. I would either use the resin to accent the painting, or to create layered paintings.
To make the layered paintings, I poured a thin layer of resin and then painted on the resin once it had cured. I would then repeat this process until the painting was done.
In mid 2018, I began incorporating LED’s into these pieces, which has taken this work to places beyond my expectations.
From 2016 until now I've continued to work in mostly gouache, colored pencil, and acrylic on wood. In 2016 I began doing more and larger cutouts (by hand, using a jigsaw and a lot of patience). During these years I began travelling farther and more often for art festivals and conventions. In 2017 I started experimenting with layered acrylic resin paintings, which will likely become their own separate body of work in the future. I also had the bad habit of not scanning finished work before it sold due to my busy schedule. During this time, I have completed The Skullgarden Coloring Book, The Seeker's Lenormand, and the 100 Skulls book.
From 2012 to 2015 I created and explored the theme of "skullgarden". I worked mostly in acrylic and colored pencil, with some ink on hotpress Arches paper and oil paints on occasion. During this time, I defined my current modus operandi as far as technique and subject matter goes. I did more paintings in 2014 than I ever have (and probably ever will) if you include finishing The Wooden Tarot. Unfortunately I did not have the means to scan or photograph quite a lot of pieces from 2012 to early 2013, so some things are missing. During this time I had three solo exhibitions, a few more group shows, and completed both The Wooden Tarot and Earthbound Oracle.
